CONTESTS
Classy Summer Drinks
Started on: July 29th, 2011 Ended on: October 1st, 2011
Imagine if you had a fully stocked bar in your home or apartment and you could make whatever you wanted? Would you stir or shake together a dry martini? Or a maybe a Manhattan? Would you make Pina Coladas on a hot summer day? Show us your best alcoholic creations.
This challenge is for food and beverage photographers to shoot a delicious looking alcoholic drink (or a non alcoholic drink) in summertime conditions, and serve up their picture with a dash of story.
Long Island Ice Teas in tall glasses with lots of ice, or two Caesars complete with leafy green celery in tall 12 ounce glasses on a wooden table in the shade out by the pool, would both be excellent submissions. The Judges will be asked to select the best looking beverage from the Top Ten images based on originality, and presentation of a high class drink in a summertime theme. Does it look tasty?
The sponsor is obsessed with ice cubes (but let's remember, the sponsor is NOT a judge), and from their perspective this web challenge is all about ice cubes, because they make and sell stainless steel ice cube trays on the internet. They've designed this model to be the best, for those who expect the best. They ship their high quality homewares all over the world from their home base on the west coast of Canada. The member that uploads the winning photo will collect a prize package worth $400 of stainless steel containers including steel popsicle molds and all sorts of glass and steel boxes, air tight steel cans and divided lunch containers. The Winner can select from their catalogue and the merchandise is shipped free right to their home or business address, anywhere in Canada.
The contest works like any other Lenzr competition--it's a sixty day challenge. Upload your pictures to the index now and right up until Sept 25, 2011. It's recommended you promote your pictures when voting begins Sept 15, 2011 to get into the Top Ten. Judges pick from the Top Ten images that are locked down on the 25th of September when voting ends - the winner is announced Oct 1, 2011.
Contest not valid in Quebec, must be 13 yrs of age or older to enter.

but i realize you did it to make a point and I see your point. The contest does not reward voters and so there is no incentive to vote for anyone elses pics except your friends - people with most friends get into top ten
its a flaw thats fixed by simply adding voter rewards - and thats what we're working on next

Secondly, the issue of MikefromBC and Dasha withdrawing from this competition and the entire site, is indeed very disturbing. Lenzr has been slow to innovate better voting instruments because of the expenditures incurred in building and launching this new website in June 2011. But please be patient and watch what happens here... big things are in the Lenzr pipe and small things too - we could expand top ten to top twenty or make it variable depending on the # of submissions - Top 20% perhaps . Also I intend to write and publish a white paper showing how to get votes as a separate page on the lenzr blog. Its not that hard and you don't have to bother your friends - you may however have to go and vote for other people's pics in other contests all over the web.
And voting will become more democratic when and if there are voter rewards issued which is something else we are working on.
Lastly would anyone object if I published all of the comments on this page in the Lenzr blog?
