So...imagine that you're on holidays. Somewhere exotic with lots of great photo opps and the whole day to take advantage of them. Now imagine that your camera stops working. The battery's fine and freshly charged. The card's fine. Everything is where it's supposed to be, but you get no response from your camera at all.

Oh...and you're in an exotic enough location that means that a camera repair shop is not available...what do you do?

I just finished facing this situation myself in Havana and Cayo Largo, Cuba. I had to borrow my 9yr old son's digicam and hold it in my hands just to stop the shaking from withdrawl. Sure...it takes pictures, but ... well, you get the idea.

So...has anyone else been in this situation and how did you get out of it?

**I'm currently filling out a repair form for Canon now...up for 2 weeks without a camera. Yeeks!**

Oh, Mr. Bishop, I feel your pain! I was at a hot air balloon festival (on the most perfect day ever known to exist for balloons, I'm sure) when my camera died an ugly death. I was inconsolable when I had to pull out the little point and shoot. Needless to say I was online ordering a new one by midnight that night! I was traumatized!

Now I am happy to report that my new Canon has helped me recover and I am back to my favourite addiction with a vengeance! Hang in there............Linda

at the Grand Canyon!! took the shuttle bus out to the main viewing area and took one shot and the battery died!! the little gift shop right there did not have anything, no cheap cameras, and no disposables!, went back on to the next shuttle back to the main parking lot and the gift shop there are disposables, bought two disposables and then back on to the shuttle bus and back to the Canyon!! needles to say after that I purchased a back up battery for my camera.

Well.... my baby's off to Mississauga for a look-see by Canon. I hope that after $200 spent (incl S&H) and 2 weeks that it comes back to me with it's wind back. So many contests to play with..and I'm missing photographing my son's hockey games. :P
